ニュージャージーからマンハッタンへ遊びに行きたいけど、どんな交通手段があるの？ニューヨークと同じチケットは使えるの？

PATH(パス)トレイン PATH train

ニュージャージーからニューヨークへの移動にはPATHトレインが速くて便利です。運賃も片道2.75ドルで始点から終点までどこで乗っても降りても同じ料金です。グローヴストリート駅からＷＴＣまで5分、ホーボーケンからＷＴＣまで約１０分とすぐ着きます。
※平日の運転時間と週末の運転時間が違うので乗るときはご注意ください。
PATH:正式名称→The Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation（港湾公団ハドソン川横断公社）の頭文字をとって PATH．

ニュージャージーからはWTC(ワールドトレードセンター）行きか３３ストリート行きに別れますが、乗る日と時間帯によって行き先が少し変わるのでそこだけ注意です。ただ、どちらに乗っても、マンハッタンでニューヨークの地下鉄に乗り換え出来ますのでご安心を。日本と同様、電車遅延もよくありますので乗る前に行き先と到着時間をチェックしましょう。

切符の種類　メトロカードとスマートリンク Ticket type

■Metro Card メトロカード
PATHとニューヨーク地下鉄やバスに乗れる切符です。窓口か自販機で購入できます。自販機が壊れていることもありますが、大抵は自販機で購入できます。支払いは現金とクレジットカードが利用できます。

PATH and NY Subway and bus tickets. You can purchase it at the counter or at the vending machine.
Vending machines may be broken, but most can be purchased from vending machines.
Payment can be made by cash or credit card.
■SmartLink スマートリンク
日本でいう電子カードSuicaのようなもの。購入するのにWeb申し込みが必須なので短期旅行者向きではないかもです。

注※PATHトレインを利用の方はレギュラーを選択してください。
残念ながら、アンリミテッドはPATH、AirTrainやExpressバスは、受け付けません。

ニューヨークメトロカードの購入の仕方　How to buy a metro card of New York

Regular MetroCardの場合
最初の購入時に１ドルの費用とチャージ額(＄5.5～＄80)を選択します。支払いは現金かクレジットカードを選択します。
※クレジットカードは1度差し込んで抜き、コードを求められたら99999と５桁適当に入力します。

Select a $ 1 cost and charge ($ 5.5- $ 80) on your first purchase. Choose cash or credit card for payment.
Insert and remove the credit card once, and when asked for the code, enter 99999 and 5 digits appropriately.

タッチパネル操作 Touch panel operation
１）言語を選択
　　英語やスペイン語など。大きい駅なら日本語あり。
２）初回だけFast MetroCard $10-を購入するか、MetroCardを選択してチャージ。
　　→Get New Card
　　　→Regular MetroCardか
　　　　Unlimited Ride
　　　　(７日／30日無制限)を選択する。
１回きりの切符の場合はSingleRideを選択。
メトロカードにチャージしたい場合Refill your cardを選択し入れたい額をチャージします。

1)Select a language:
English, Spanish, etc. Japanese is available at large stations.

2)Buy Fast MetroCard $ 10- for the first time only, or choose MetroCard to charge.
　　→Get New Card
　　　→Regular MetroCard or Unlimited Ride(7th / 30th uncontrolled).
Select Single Ride for a one-time ticket.
If you want to charge your metrocard, select Refill your card.

ニューヨーク鉄道　改札の通り方　How to pass the railroad ticket gate

PATHでもニューヨーク地下鉄でも回転式改札口の入り口で上のところにカードを通すような溝がありそこにメトロカードの矢印にしたがって溝にそってシュッとスワイプさせます。
速すぎてもゆっくりすぎてもエラーで通れなかったりと最初は緊張しますが慣れてくれば大丈夫です。
残高足りない時も通れませんのでその時はチャージしてください。
大丈夫だと回転式の開札がクルッと回って通れますので通過しましょう。出る時はメトロカードは必要なく、遊具のような回転式ドアを押しながら通り抜けます。

タッチ決済導入OMNY　Touch payment introduction OMNY

新しく導入されたOMNYはタッチ決済で２０２０年末までに全駅に整備、２０２３年までに全面移行されるとのこと。OMNYとはOne Metro New York今のところ住民に限られているみたいですが、そのうち旅行者も使えるようになるといいですね。

The newly introduced OMNY will be installed at all stations by the end of 2020 by touch payment, and will be fully migrated by 2023.
OMNY seems to be limited to residents at the moment, but it will be available to travelers as well.
I hope it will be.

フェリー　 Ferry

ニュージャージーの至る港からマンハッタンへ渡るフェリーが出ています。１回の乗車につき大人８ドルです。乗り場のそばで切符は購入できます。

５分ほどで対岸に到着するので速いです。そこから無料バスで移動あり。ハドソン川を渡りながら、ニュージャージーとニューヨークの景色を眺めながら（寒く無ければ）移動とは贅沢ですね。

There are ferries from all New Jersey ports to Manhattan.
Adults $ 8 per ride.
Tickets can be purchased near the platform.
It is fast because it arrives at the opposite shore in about 5 minutes. There is a free bus transfer from there.
Traveling across the Hudson River and gazing at the scenery of NJ and NY (unless it's cold) is a luxury.
